Ciara qualified as a Hatha/Vinyasa Yoga Alliance 200 hr yoga teacher in July 2017 with Suddha Anand Yogashala, Varkala, Kerala, India. She had been practising yoga since 2004 and it had played an important role in her life. It was during her first yoga teacher training in Kerala, which is the home of Ayurveda, that she discovered Ayurveda and she never looked back.
She loved all the Ayurvedic massages and the natural products used in the treatments she received. She was also amazed at how Ayurveda can help to bring back balance to the body and mind through diet and lifestyle and the various herbs available to treat and prevent illnesses.
Ciara began teaching yoga a few months after returning from India. While studying yoga and teaching it, Ciara had a desire to return to India again for more yoga training and to study Ayurveda. She travelled to India in July 2019 where she completed an Ayurvedic yoga practitioner course at Vedansha in Rishikesh. She was taught the course by Doctor Dipak Saklani, who became a valuable friend and mentor to her.
She learned about important Ayurvedic herbs, the tri-dosha, beauty treatments in Ayurveda, yoga and Ayurveda, Ayurvedic oils for the body, skin and hair, and how to recognise imbalances in the doshas, Ayurvedic head, face and body massage, important rasayanas for the body and incompatible food items. She developed her passion and knowledge further during this trip and wished she had more time to study.
She returned to India in November 2021 and successfully qualified as an Ayurvedic Lifestyle Consultant in Ayurveda, with PVA Ayurveda in Kerala, India. She trained under Doctor Abdurahman Poilan, who has been teaching since 2004, and working as a doctor with over 30 years, his son Doctor Irfan and Doctor Anusree. She completed a 1 month internship at the hospital, attended hospital consultations and practised daily massages and therapies. During her time at PVA, Ciara undertook a 25 day Panchakarma program (rejuvenating and cleansing program). She delved deeper into her knowledge of Ayurveda during this program and she was enabled to experience in person the benefits of a traditional Ayurvedic cleanse. She also completed a Sted Council exam at PVA Ayurveda and she received a distinction.
In February 2022, Ciara then travelled to Rishikesh and studied at Kasturi5 Ayuryogashala with Dr.Dipak Saklani. She completed an Ayurvedic nutrition course and a beauty therapy course where she learned how to give a marma face massage along with various other beauty treatments.
After returning to Ireland in March 2022, she spent 3 months studying Anatomy and Physiology with the Open College Ireland and she received a QQI Level 5 qualification. In June 2022, Ciara opened a treatment room in Kilkenny city where she provides Ayurvedic Lifestyle Consultations, a variety of Ayurvedic therapies and she can recommend Ayurvedic herbs, skin and hair products. In August 2022, Ciara completed a Diploma in Advanced Cosmetology with PVA Ayurveda.
In March 2023, Ciara travelled back to Varkala India, and she completed a 300hr advanced yoga teacher training course in Hatha/Vinyasa and Ashtanga yoga. In October 2023, Ciara moved her Ayurvedic treatments to Creacon Wellness Retreat in New Ross, Co. Wexford.
